DEALING WITH YOUR SELF
Perhaps mans greatest enemy is himself. These are his desires, decisions and actions. All these have consequences. Desires that are sinful (that is) contrary to Gods will for oneself and others have harmful consequences, whereas desires that are good are beneficial.
Through sinful desires, sin and the enemy Satan enslave man. Reality has shown us that no one is exempt from the power of sin, and no one can deal effectively with sin in away that can bring about freedom in ones life. That is why God sent his dear son Jesus Christ as a payment required by God for dealing with the power and consequences of sin in the life of whoever will turn away from sin and have faith in Jesus. Apostle Paul learnt the truth about this matter. He knew that unless one is submitted to God and living under the power of the Holy Spirit the desires of the flesh would prevail even if one desires to do good. In Galatians 5:16-18 he told the church this:
But I say, work and live (habitually) in the (Holy) spirit (responsive to and controlled and guided by the spirit); Then you will certainly not gratify the cravings and desires of the flesh (mans nature without God) for these are antagonistic to each other (continually withstanding and in conflict with each other), so that you are not free but are prevented from doing what you desires to do. But if you are guided (led) by the Holy Spirit, you are not subject to the law (Amp. Version Translation).
Only when one is submitted to Jesus Christ and obedient to the word of God will the spirit of God lead one into freedom. Such a person is not subject to the condemnation of the law.
The self without God cannot prevail against sin.
Again in Ephesians 4:17 Apostle Paul addressed the issue of the self and lifestyle. This is what he told the church:
..with the Lords authority let me say this: live no longer as the ungodly do, for they are hopelessly confused. Their closed minds are full of darkness; they are far away from the life of God because they have shut their minds and hardened their hearts against him. They don’t care any more about what is right and wrong, and they have given themselves over to immoral things. Their lives are filled with all kinds of impurity and greed (Living Bible translation)
And so the moral degeneration and problems we see in our society today has its roots in ungodly values and life styles. When people shut their minds and hardened their hearts against the word of God, their lives will be lived apart from God. It is a life lived with a darkened mind that can no longer tell the right values from a wrong one. Neither can such people access the kind of life that God gives people in order to transform them for good. That’s why we encounter many abominable acts all around us. For example, something must be seriously wrong with the value system of a father or a mother who takes the pornographic Red Pepper home and exposes it to their young children, leave alone feeding their minds on such materials. It is becoming more common to hear of a father defiling his daughter, a woman forcing a young boy to have sex with her, we also hear of homosexuality and lesbianism invading our schools through students from neighboring countries and most of all through the Western media and promoters of such lifestyle.
Our schools and universities are very important target grounds for the promoters of such lifestyles. Whether the desires of the self is manifested through such things as sexual immorality, drunkenness, greed, murder, prostitution, pornography and so on, lasting freedom comes only when one surrenders to Jesus and receives a new life that God offers through him. Any solution that is not under girded by Gods word will not help because its values are only cosmetic leaving the roots of the problem intact.
As Uganda liberalizes, care must be taken by the relevant government authority and every responsible citizen to protect our people from being devalued morally. There is real danger for the Media Houses, FM Radio stations, theater groups, church leaders and Politicians, to be tempted to receive sponsorship from Gay and lesbian fraternity in exchange for the promotion of lifestyles that are inhuman and strange to our culture. Now that the elections are round the corner in Uganda, let the politicians desist from receiving sponsorship from such groups.
Receiving sponsorship from such groups would tantamount to trading with the souls of our people. Other groups we should be wary of their sponsorship are feminists groups that have no value for marriage and family and those who undermine the calls for sexual abstinence before marriage and in single hood. There is no doubt that some N.G.Os will be started and sponsored primarily to achieve such goals.
There are homosexuals and lesbians groups in the Western world that sponsor people for degree courses. In their application forms for sponsorship, they even ask one to tell his or her sexual preferences (that is) whether one is straight, gay or lesbian. What guarantee is there that one may not be compelled to adopt such a lifestyle if one accepts sponsorship from such groups?
Recently when I heard of this controversial play with a strange title: The V. Monologues (a production of an American woman called Eve Ensler), I smelt a rat. My suspicion was that the Lesbian fraternity could be behind the staging of this play here in Kampala. And so, the Sunday Vision of February 13th 2005 page 7 reinforced my fears. From an article that appeared on that page, I learnt that Ensler is a Lesbian and a worshiper of the female private part. Can you imagine that? And now Ndere cultural group was contracted to stage the play though they later declined due to public pressure. The real agenda for the organizers of this play is to promote Lesbianism although they claim that they want to use the play to raise awareness about sexual violence against women.
What awareness do people really need? People are already aware of violence against women and other vulnerable groups. It is the solution to the problems that they need. And the answer lies in turning to God and embracing a godly lifestyle in obedience to what the bible teaches. Here in Uganda We dont have to reap the dire consequences of such cultures as a result of Devine judgment. May be you have already fallen victim to such an abomination brought about by the desires of the self under the influence of satanic powers. Dont lose heart. I have good news for you. Turn your life over to Jesus Christ. Through him you will find freedom. In Mathew 11:28, Jesus says this: Come to me all of you who are tired from carrying heavy loads and I will give you rest. If you have never surrendered your life to Jesus as your Lord and savior, why not do it now? If you have decided to accept Jesus as you Lord and savior please say this prayer:
Dear Jesus, I come to you as a sinner. Forgive me. I repent of my sins. Right now I invite you to come into my heart as my Lord and savior. Change my life. Amen
If you said that prayer meaning it, you are saved. Begin reading the bible from the gospels. Find a good Bible based church in which to fellowship in order to grow spiritually. You can let us know about your decision. May God bless you.
