ENDURE UNTIL VICTORY COMES
The challenge for many believers is their failure to endure in the word of God until the word accomplishes its work. It is my prayer that this lesson will help you to endure any situation until the word of God brings forth your answer, breakthrough, or victory.
Learning from Joseph: Ps 105: 17-21 (KJV): ‘He sent a man before them, even Joseph, who was sold for a servant: whose foot they hurt with fetters; he was laid in iron: until the time that his word came: the word of the LORD tried him. The king sent and loosed him; even the ruler of the people, and let him go free. He made him lord of his house, and ruler of all his substance’.
The passage quoted above tells us how Joseph fell to his lowest point in life. From being an heir and a child of promise Joseph became a slave. He changed hands twice and ended up in a prison dungeon, seemingly without hope. His physical suffering began right at the hands of his own relatives who were his own brothers. In prison his neck, hands and feet were all put in iron. He could not do anything, neither could he go anywhere. Things appeared completely hopeless. However, in the midst of seemingly an hopeless situation, Joseph got delivered and elevated far above his circumstance.
Understanding the key to Joseph’s deliverance will empower you towards achieving your own deliverance. Remember that just like God had a plan for Joseph so does he have one for you. The one of Joseph came to pass. Allow yours to come to fulfillment as well. The key to Joseph’s deliverance is found in verse 19 of this Psalm. I was amazed when the Spirit of God opened up for me this passage.
‘Until the time that his word came: the word of the LORD tried him’. (KJV) .
Good News translation of the same passage is: ‘Until what he had predicted came true, the word of the LORD proved him right’. Carefully note the following:
Joseph had the word (promise) about his destiny or life. He got it from God. He spoke it (predicted it’s fulfillment). When he spoke it, the word went forth. Now we are told that ‘until the time his word came’. Ask yourself where had his word gone? To answer this question, let us look at Pr. 18: 20-21 (KJV) ‘A man’s belly shall be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth; and with the increase of his lips shall he be filled. Death and life are in the power of the tongue; and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof’.
Joseph’s word had gone out to do the following:
- To work on his problem.
- To fetch the fruit of what he had spoken in line with God’s promise for his life.
- To bring the answer he badly needed. –
- To brings satisfaction where there was hunger and lack. Joseph waited confident that the words he had spoken over his situation will come back with the answers. In the meantime as he waited the word of the LORD tried him.
That is: -It purified his faith, it tested him to find out whether he was true to the word and it proved him true. He was found consistent for he did not change his language because the answers seemed to have delayed. Rather, his mouth kept on working, speaking God’s promise over his life again and again. He knew that was the truth, for Gods word is truth (Jn 17:17). The word of God found him not lacking but fit and qualified to receive.
The situation could no longer hold him. Joseph had reached a point where he had begun ruling over his situation by the word of God that he kept on speaking. The anointing was released as a consequence, the yoke was destroyed and the burden of prison and slavery was lifted. He was made The Lord of Egypt and assumed authority and control over all resources, finance and manpower. He received wisdom from God to excel and to empower others. He became what God said he would be.
WHAT ABOUT YOU?
What is your problem, challenge or aspirations? Have you fallen lower than Joseph? It does not matter what your position is now. What is important now is for you to work to be what God says you are. If you have been blaming others, wallowing in self-pity and speaking defeat, lack and poverty, you better stop it now because those words will go forth and come back with more of defeat, lack, failure, etc… Remember your belly or life will be filled with the fruit of your mouth. I wish this were not so because many people are ruining their own lives and that of their children with negative words. Receive by faith What God says about your situation or need. Rule over your situation by speaking the right word. Inspite of the physical reality, see yourself with what God has promised not without it. It is the spiritual reality of your situation that needs to be changed first before things can change in the physical. It is only the word of God that can change the spiritual reality if you endure long enough in the word. Once that is done, then nothing else can be able to stop your needs from being met whether it is a miracle, healing or victory.
Go bless you.
