“And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rook I will build my church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it. And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven”. Matt 16:18-19 (NKJV)
These words quoted above were spoken by Jesus, in response to Peter’s statements about Jesus being the Christ, the Son of the living God.
Jesus made it clear to Peter that the truth he spoke did not come from him. It was a revelation from God. And upon that revelation about Christ (The Rock), Peter would build the Church and the gates of Hell shall not prevail against it.
The gate of hell is the stronghold of hell. Our strength as Christians lies on the revelation we have of Christ. The moment we have a revelation of Christ through his word quickened by the Holy Spirit then we are able to find strength, and a confidence that is clearly not ours but of God in the midst of the storms of life and the changes that constantly sweeping across the world. It is only what God has revealed to you that will enable you keep on course. All the major challenges and any critical moment I have gone through as a believer, has never been a surprise to me. I have always had a revelation about them. In the heat of it I remember the revelation and what God’s will for my life and assignment is. That has always given me strength to stand. My stand then is on the promises of God, revealed to me.
It is important to know that God uses the storms of life to propel you to your next level. That is why Apostle Paul said in Romans 8:28 that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who are called according to his purpose.
You could be in the middle of the storm now. Look unto Jesus. He is the rock which will keep you standing. And after you have stood, he will lift you to your next level-from where you will experience a new beginning.
God bless you.
